Tracy Abbosh has been serving the Jacksonville area for over twenty years, specializing in permanent hair removal. She is a licensed, board certified medical electrologist with extensive experience in treating all skin types. Her office, located in the south Jacksonville area, offers the latest in technology with the most advanced hair removal and skin care equipment. You'll find Tracy and her staff to be kind and knowledgeable and ready to help you with your hair removal and skin care needs.

Gabrielle earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Central Florida. She later earned her nursing degree and had been practicing as a surgical RN for orthopedic, plastic and ophthalmic surgeons before joining ELCOJ. Additionally, she is a Registered Electrologist with the state of Florida, a Board Certified Clinical Electrologist and Certified Medical Electrologist. Gabrielle possesses additional certificates in laser and light based hair removal, microdermabrasion, chemical peeling and various cosmetic procedures.

Dr. Earl Eye earned his medical degree from the West Virginia University School of Medicine, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He completed internships at Montefiore Hospital (Pittsburgh, PA) and a residency at the University of Florida-Shands Hospital (Jacksonville, FL), followed by Infectious Diseases, Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Fellowships. For the past three decades, he was the senior partner at the Clinic for Pulmonary and Infectious Diseases. He also was an associate professor at the University of Florida-Shands Hospital and chairman of the Infectious Disease Committee at Jacksonville’s Methodist Hospital.

Meghan earned her bachelors degree at Flagler College. She is a certified and state licensed Electrologist in the state of Florida. She has had extensive training with all skin types.

Electrolysis Treatments

Electrolysis is the only form of permanent hair removal recognized by the American Medical Association. There are three modalities that can be used to eliminate unwanted hair, and all three are effective.

Galvanic Electrolysis, which is the oldest, is a chemical method that utilizes a direct current to convert normal body salt and water in the follicle into a compound capable of destroying the dermal papilla. The chemical is produced only in the follicle and does not affect any other area. One probe or several probes working simultaneously can be used during this process.

Thermolysis is a method that uses a high frequency current to produce heat in the area influenced by the current. This heat cauterizes and destroys the dermal papilla. One sterile probe is used during this process.

Two variations of Thermolysis are "Flash" or "Automatic" Thermolysis which uses a split second impulse of current and "Manual" Thermolysis which requires several seconds at a lower intensity to achieve permanency.

The Blend method combines both curents together in the same probe. Thermolysis enhances the action of the galvanic method to produce a faster process. Your electrologist will select the best method for you based on your hair type, skin characteristics and sensitivity. His/Her choice will assure you of the greatest maximum comfort and permanency for your hair problem.

Laser Treatments

What conditions are treated with the laser?

Traditional hair removal techniques such as shaving, plucking, waxing and depilatory creams provide only temporary relief. Until now, the only recognized way to remove hair permanently has been by electrolysis. The GentleMax Pro safely removes unwanted body hair without damaging the delicate pores and structures of the skin.

What does the treatment include?

Depending on the amount of hair treated, the procedure varies from patient to patient. Generally, the treatment will include wearing safety eyewear to protect the practitioner and the patient's eyes from the laser light during the procedure, and a small handpiece will be used that touches the skin to deliver the laser light. A light spray of coolant onto the skin will be felt just before each laser pulse. A test area will be done prior to the entire treatment. Your full treatment may be done on the same day or up to two weeks later, depending on the skin reaction.

Most patients experience little discomfort because of the dynamic cooling device. The degree of discomfort varies with each person, depending on his/her pain threshold. Topical anesthesia may also be requested based on individual preferences or tolerances.

Be sure to discuss this with your practitioner before receiving the laser treatment. The procedure can take as little as 10 minutes or up to an hour, depending on the area treated. The treated area may become pink or red within 30 minutes of treatment; this may last from a few hours to a couple of days and is relieved with the application of ice or cooling gels.

What precautions should be taken before and after treatment?

Avoid the sun 4-6 weeks before and after treatment or until your practitioner allows it. You must avoid electrolysis, plucking or waxing hair for 6 weeks prior to treatment.

If you have had a history of perioral herpes, prophylactic antiviral therapy may be prescribed. If you have a dark skin type, a bleaching cream may be started 4-6 weeks before treatment to optimize results.

You should discuss your desired results and the improvements you expect to achieve with your practitioner. Together, you can decide if your expectations will be met and if this laser treatment is the best option.

How many treatments will I need?

Hair grows in cycles. The number of treatments required depends upon your skin color, hair color and coarseness of the hair. Clients average 6-10 treatments as the process is only effective on hair during the early growing cycle. Repeat sessions will be necessary to treat these follicles when they re-enter the early growth phase.

Is the Procedure covered by insurance?

Most insurance companies do not offer reimbursement for cosmetic procedures. However, consult with your insurance carrier for more information.

There is a $50.00 test stop fee which must be done prior to receiving a full treatment.

Most treatments are scheduled with follow up every 6 weeks. There are no hidden fees. Payment is required at the time of service. We accept Cash, Checks, Visa, and Mastercard.

Botox Treatments

And there's no recovery time. You can even do it on your lunch break.

Your doctor will administer several tiny injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic directly into the muscles that cause those moderate to severe from lines between the brows. Your doctor will determine where to administer the injections by examining your ability to move certain muscles in your brow area. The location, size, and use of the muscles that create a furrowed brow vary markedly among individuals. No anesthesia is required, although your doctor may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting. Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. You can expect to be in and out of the physician's office without downtime. You may see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows within days. Improvement may continue for as long as a month, and could last up to 4 months.
